Robyn Kruk AM on Australian Mental Health and Suicide Prevention.

Australian Reflections: Robyn Kruk AM

Chief Executive, Australian Mental Health Commission

Breakfast| American Club on  6 March 2013

Three months ago Australia’s newly formed National Mental Health Commission delivered a world first with a National Report Card on Mental Health and Suicide Prevention (full report). It painted a compelling picture: Australia strives to be the best in progressive mental health policy but one in five Australians experience a mental health disorder and there are over 65,000 reported attempted suicides, each year.Robyn Kruk will provide a unique insight into what Australians are thinking and feeling as she outlines the findings, and implications, of the national report card on Australia’s state of mental being.
About the speaker: A former Secretary of the Australian Environmental Department, Robyn has led a number of high profile government agencies at state and federal level, including the NSW Health Department. Robyn has also been chief executive of a number of first response agencies in the health and land/natural resource management areas.Robyn has been appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for service to public administration. Our thanks to the Australian Consulate-General for assistance with her visit.
